Video for "Give It To The Moment"

If you know a thing or two about me, you’ve probably heard about my passion for dance. I spent most of my early life and teens training strictly as a ballerina, but when I came to New York for the first time, my eyes were opened to a whole new world of dance as a cultural movement.

I owe a lot of thanks to my close friend and choreographer Ljuba Castot, for letting me be her wing-woman, as she took me around and introduced me to some of the most inspiring underground dance clubs and parties in city, and helped educated me on all kinds of street styles, as well as their histories.

After a couple years I moved to Harlem and learned about Litefeet, a NYC-based dance culture which originated from within communities in Harlem, The Bronx and Brooklyn. Something about Litefeet really connected with me. It’s quirky and free flowing, with the added bonus of hat tricks and shoe tricks, but it's surprisingly challenging and requires a lot of strength, quick reflex and attitude to do it. Something I also really loved about it is that everyone involved in creating and evolving the style as their own way of doing it. Beyond just sheer skill, it requires a lot of individual expression. I haven’t had the opportunity to get much further than an amateur at Litefeet, but it struck a chord with me and absolutely I love to watch people doing it! I thought it would be fun to make a video including some of the people on the forefront of creating and evolving this amazing style of dance. We literally just grabbed a camera and ran around Harlem with dancers Godpicasso and Chrybaby Cozie, creator and founder of the Litefeet Nation movement!

I wrote the song "Give It To The Moment" with Djemba Djemba around the time I was discovering Litefeet and Crybaby Cozie helped with the choreography for the live performance of this song, so that's why I chose it. Beyond just a dance movement, Litefeet has its own music movement as well, which is very different than this song. However, we thought it would be fun to mashup our two worlds, and out of that inspiration, came this video! I hope you enjoy.

New Song "Dearly Beloved" Out Today!

When my best friend Alice passed away nearly a year and a half ago, her white electric guitar was passed along to me. In her memory and because I love her so much, I promised myself that I would not let it sit in its case collecting dust. I was going to play the hell out of it, just as she would have done. So that’s what I’m doing. Inspired by her and all of you, I am absolutely ecstatic to be able to start off this new chapter with my new song, Dearly Beloved. You can watch the video for it now on Vevo or download or stream the song
